Holiday Sale and Two Freebies!

From now through December 25th - Christmas Day! - all of my titles that are published on All Romance eBooks (ARe) are 50%, with the exception of Being Karen and The Guy in the Coffee Shop. Those two are free! If you're on the fence about some of my stories, this is a good time to check them out. The Guy in the Coffee Shop is a good gay romance short for anyone who hasn't ventured into the MM genre yet and might be interested. At least this is what I've been told by a couple of people. There's a sex scene, but the story focuses mostly on the two guys (complete opposites) getting over shyness and other things to get together. And it's free, so what do you have to lose? ;) It's also one of my favorites that I've written for a variety of reasons.

The other freebie is Being Karen (#2.5 in the Taking Lance world). Karen gets busy with anyone and everyone. There's gay sex, straight sex, woman on woman sex, threesomes and pretty much everything else you can imagine. It's an intro to Saving Travis, but it can be read as a standalone. Don't go into it expecting a sappy romance. While Karen loves her man, she loves sex with others too.

The Guy in the Coffee Shop - Free

I want to send another thank you to every single person who has read one of my books. I know I say that a lot, but I don't know if you guys know how much you all mean to me.

If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a fantastic day with your families and friends. I will be doing the crazy that is my holiday each year. From visiting in-laws to hosting a huge group of folks at my home, I'll be pretty busy. I'm looking forward to it.

I hope everyone is having a great week and that you have a wonderful holiday!

Until next time,

~Candi Kay

P.S. A Reminder - I have created a new Facebook page. While my author page is still active, to be honest, I don't get on there much. There's less freedom to interact with readers where I can on the new one. Feel free to send me a friend request. I'll be updating more on there than probably anywhere else.

Thank You, Giveaway, Fun New Site, & Updated Information

I'll start with a giveaway. Everyone loves giveaways, right? Between now and December 16th, there's a giveaway going on at On Top Down Under Book Reviews for e-copies of both of my "Willy" stories. Stop by, say hi, and comment for a chance to win the books! I'm also sending a huge thank you to On Top Down Under for hosting me! You can find the giveaway here. Just leave a comment on the post and you've been entered to win.

Also, I have changed my Facebook info listed on the right of this blog. While I still have my author page, I also created a different account. Folks were talking about my books on Facebook and I wasn't able to respond or say thank you with the author page. Now I can.

Click the Facebook icon and request me as a friend or you can follow me. I don't bite. Much. ;)

Now to other stuff -

When I published Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer last year, I never could've imagined that people would embrace the story and that world as they have. I had assumed I'd throw my goofy story out there, a few would read it, and then I'd get scolded for the way I wrote the North Pole. Not only did that not happen, but I've received some of the nicest messages and reviews from readers who enjoy my version of Santa and Mrs. Claus. I'm in awe. Seriously.

Willy's story was originally written for a publisher submission call. I've blogged about this in the past, but I'm going to bring it up again because a lot of people don't know the story behind it. I saw the submission call on the publisher site and figured, "Why not? I can totally write that story." To make a long and frustrating story short, that publisher was in the process of changing owners and I was jerked around for 16 weeks. In other words, I could do nothing with the story at all until they said one way or another. Finally, on the 16th week, I sent them an email telling them to remove my story from consideration. There wasn't so much as a courtesy email response back from them. No yes. No no. No anything. So I self-published. I have to say that was one of the best things I've done since I started publishing my work.

Then we get to Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck. At no time while writing Willy and Randy's story did the thought of a sequel enter my mind. They got their HEA. What was left? Apparently quite a bit. I received several messages from wonderful readers asking me to revisit that world. I didn't make any promises, but I said I'd try and see how it went. Well, it went much better than I expected and Evan and Derek's story was born shortly after.

One of the best compliments an author can get is when readers ask for more. You guys did it with Willy and Randy and now after Evan and Derek, I'm again being asked to write a story in that world. How awesome is that?

Well, I'm happy to say that there will be a 3rd story in my North Pole. At the moment (though it can easily change once I start writing it), it will be about Blake Simpson, the rogue reindeer from Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck. Blake was written to be a total jerk and I think that shows pretty clearly. At no time did I plan to give him his own story.

I'll tell you something about Blake without giving away spoilers for those who haven't read the story yet..... the way he was originally written never would've had anyone wanting his story. While he was a jerk in the published book, he was a hell of a lot worse before I went back in and rewrote his character. The only thing that had me changing him was that he was originally written to be a lot more violent and evil. I had to rewrite his character because the series is meant to be in fun and he went beyond what the books are meant to be about - fun, goofy, and sexy. I guess in the back of my mind, the idea of giving him his own story was there or his story wouldn't have ended as it did in Evan. I've also been threatened by my author buddy if I don't redeem the guy. :) I believe I know the story from start, middle to finish already, but again. that's likely to change when I start writing. For that reason, I won't give a bunch of details.

Oh, and because I thought it was so cool? I loved, loved, LOVED my stories being put on someone's "weird shit" shelf on Goodreads. Thanks, Tara!

Another thing I have to mention because I've received messages about this as well -

Yes, there is a ReindeerSecrets.com and it belongs to me. Before that was added to Evan and Derek's story, I did a thorough search online to make sure I wasn't listing something that actually existed in the real world. A couple of weeks ago my best friend and I were discussing the book and she suggested I do something with ReindeerSecrets.com. I popped online, found out it was available, and then I purchased the domain before I could really think much about it. In the days since, RS, our resident anonymous gossip reindeer, starting having entirely too much fun adding secrets from the North Pole.

What should you expect on the site? If you've read the two books, you know I like writing goofy and silly. This will be no different. Don't go into it expecting anything more than that. It's being written from the point of view of an anonymous, gossiping reindeer and there will be 'guest' posts by elves and maybe another reindeer or two. There will be crime reports, North Pole gossip, an "in the news" section, a NSFW section (expect REALLY naughty pics and GIFs there), and I'll even be contributing with freebie stories from that world. These stories won't be much more than sex scenes with some of my favorite characters. You won't have to read these stories as a build up for future stories, promise. You'll still get the full story when I publish book #3 and beyond (if there's a want for beyond).

This has been an amazing ride and I'm appreciative beyond measure. I write because I enjoy it and I write for my own sanity. I've been doing it for as long as I've been old enough to hold a notebook and pen in my hand. If someone would've told me a year and a half ago that people would be reading my books, I'd have called them a liar. Why would anyone want to read what I've written? I'm so thankful to have been proven wrong. I love you all. Seriously.

In my last blog post I mentioned my mall Santa story. While the story was complete weeks ago, I'm rethinking putting it out this year. I love the story. As in, I think it's probably one of my favorites I've written to date. However, there were a couple of glitches in the story line that I'm iffy about and I've not had the time to devote to fixing them. It won't be published until I know 100% it's what I want. Right now it's just not there. I will likely put it on hold until next year.

Oh, I've been put on Pinterest probation for a specific photo I re-pinned recently. Yes, it was naughty and it was quite graphic, but come on! It didn't matter that I wasn't the one who originally pinned the photo. Someone complained and my profile was checked out and I've been warned. I'm saying this because I've had to take a step back from there over the past week or so. I see stuff and want to re-pin, but I don't because it could get me kicked off the site. In other words, I'm backing away from temptation. :)

Again, thank you to everyone who has embraced my crazy version of the North Pole and the characters who live there. And thank you for asking for more.

Until next time,

~Candi Kay

New Release: Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck

It's been awhile - April 14th to be exact - since I've released a new book. I'm happy to say that my latest Christmas story, Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck has been published. For those who read Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer, you'll be familiar with most of the characters in this one, though it focuses on two brand new characters and love interests. After Willy, I was asked if there would be a sequel. Honestly, I didn't think it needed one. Randy and Willy came together at the end and that was that. After a couple of emails asking me about revisiting that world, I figured I'd open a blank document and hope for the best. Evan the Virgin Reindeer & His Sexy Buck was born. I admit that it didn't take me long to get excited about being back in that world.

I hope you enjoy Evan and Derek's story as much as I enjoyed writing it. While I believe it can be read as a standalone, what happened after the Christmas party last year does get explained somewhat. You didn't think Mr. and Mrs. Claus would just let things go after being called out, did you? No, of course not.

Blurb -

From the world of Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer -

The North Pole isn't exactly as it appears in fairy tales. It has the elves and Santa and his reindeer, but Santa and Mrs. Claus aren't the jolly couple the world believes them to be. Far from it, actually. The reindeer are all shape-shifters who transform into gorgeous beings in human form and are respected by all.

Reindeer Evan is brand new to Santa's sleigh. When two reindeer are fired for voicing objections over the Chief Reindeer's elf, Evan is offered a chance to fulfill his lifelong dream and make his parents proud. Unfortunately his sworn enemy is hired at the same time. When the bullying reindeer takes things too far, Reindeer Derek swoops in and saves Evan from certain death. It's embarrassing enough for the rookie to have to be rescued, but he's also still a virgin. Being a virgin reindeer at twenty-one is unheard of in the North Pole, but Derek is more than eager to help him with that particular problem.

When things take a violent turn for both the elves and the reindeer, everyone must work together in hopes of saving Christmas. In the midst of it all, two reindeer might just find love along the way.

Approximately 32,000 words.

It's available at the following links, with more being added when they go live -

In the coming days there will also be another Christmas story from me, The Cute Elf & His Mall Santa. This one is about a mall Santa Claus who falls for one of his little helpers. While the story is most definitely a romance, it's also about family. I'll publish another post with more info soon.

To everyone who reads my books, I can't thank you enough. You're the reason I do what I do and you have no idea how much you guys mean to me.

Willy Sequel Update, This & That, and More (NSFW) Eye Candy

Note that a majority of my posts (including this one) would not be considered safe for work. I found these images on Pinterest. You can check out my page by clicking the button on the right. The boards are pretty self-explanatory. I often add photos and GIFs for my enjoyment. If you have a problem with nudity (of either sex), my blog posts probably aren't for you.

With that being said -

An actual Facebook message sent to my friend slash editor not long ago -

Randy roared and had to be held back when another reindeer taunted Willy. Willy called Santa Claus a big butthead. A rookie reindeer - a virgin - just got his first blow job and hand job ever and the reindeer (not a rookie) who was responsible for both came all over his back. Master Elf Jason left klutzy Elf Marcus in charge of the workshop while he and Willy were taking care of business elsewhere. Who knows what'll be destroyed when they get back? Remember poor Marcus' concussion from the last story when he heard the reindeer roar? Klutz!

That totally makes sense to both of us and anyone else who has read Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer. This (above) was in regards to the new one (mentioned in my last blog post) that will be taking place in the same world. Like Willy and Randy's story, I'm having entirely too much fun writing this one.

The reindeer in my version of the North Pole are shifters. I feel like I should throw that out there for those who read that above and said "HUH???? What????"

I have to stress that while Willy and Randy (and the others) are in this new story a lot, they do not take center. The romance is between two other (new) characters. There will be updates in regards to what happened after the big party (no spoilers for those who haven't read it). Santa and the missus weren't too pleased with the way certain things played out during their big event. You didn't think they'd just let it go and allow everyone to go on their merry little way, did you? Of course there are new rules in place that the elves and reindeer aren't too pleased with. The new (still untitled) story takes place the following Christmas.

I've also written a couple of things that would likely get me kicked off Amazon if I were to attempt to publish them as they are. I'll either go in and make some major changes or publish them on Smashwords without changing a thing. I had Taking Lance published on Smashwords for awhile before I removed it and made it exclusive to Amazon. All stories after that one are strictly available on Amazon.

Which leads me to something else....

Starting July 1st, Amazon will be changing the way they pay authors whose books are enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program.  I'm not really all that knowledgeable of how all that will work long term. I know the gist of it, but at this point I'm not sure how it will affect me one way or another. Roughly 50% of my downloads are from KU. Only time will tell if the new policy will help or hurt me in the long run.

What else?

I've been forced to take a huge step back from social media and pretty much everything else for reasons I won't go into here. A lot has been going on in my real world so I've not had the time to tweet and retweet as I've done in the past. Hopefully, I will be back on track soon. Thank you to all those who have been kind enough to promote and support me even when I've been out of the loop.

You want to know what's really cool? Someone I know outside of my writing read The Guy in the Coffee Shop last weekend and had no clue I was the one who wrote it. Like a lot of others (me included) she had gotten interested in M/M books as a result of Blay and Qhuinn in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and wanted to check out other books with gay characters. I selfishly recommended a bunch of books to introduce her to gay romance with one being mine. She had no idea I'd written it. She really liked it and was shocked when I told her it was my work. That story is really short and there's not a whole lot to it, but it's still one of my faves. It meant the world to me that she enjoyed it without even knowing it was me who wrote it. Now she knows and I've been tempted to send her Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer, but I think she's still too new for that one, don't you? :)

I've again gotten behind on pretty much everything, so if I've missed something, my sincere apologies. I am really hoping that I'll be able to get back to writing, blogging, reading and having more of a social media presence again real soon.

I want to send a big hug to someone very close to me who isn't feeling well at the moment. Much love to you, my friend. You'll kick this in the ass. I don't doubt that for a second. You're the strongest person I know. You got this. :)

With Magic Mike XXL being released soon (and yes, I will be going to see it), I couldn't not add something from my favorite ever sketch from SNL. I remember seeing it when it was live and laughing my ass off. Even now I can't watch the full thing without giggling.

RIP to the two legends who did it first @jdotcdoublee #gotham #gothammemes #gothampost @gotham._

I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I don't have more to update in regards to upcoming releases. I'll write another blog post when things are firmed up a bit.

Until next time,

New Release & Huge Shout Outs

A lot of you already know that my new kinky short, Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer, was published a few days ago. The story, affectionately dubbed Wanky Willy by my good friend, has done extremely well - better than I ever could have imagined - in the first few days. It even got as high as #57 on Amazon's Gay Erotica Top 100 of paid books for a little while. I don't know if you guys know how much that meant to me.

Before I go any further and list details about Willy's story, I have to send out a huge thank you to some people. One, my friend who told me months ago to "get off your arse and put your stuff out there already". I listened, and more terrified than I'd ever been in my life, did just that. That was Taking Lance and Willy is #4 for me to publish.

The second thank you is for Ant and the Erotic Author Retweet Group (@EroticAuthorRTG) on Twitter, hashtag #EARTG. I got on Twitter months ago knowing very little about how it all worked for authors on there. Oh, I knew enough to create the account, as I've been involved in other Twitter accounts before. But what I never could have imagined would be the support I would receive from my fellow independent authors who immediately took this new girl into the fold. Between Ant and the other authors, my little kinky elf story has taken off. When I say I have no words for all you guys have done for me, I really mean it. Just thank you! Every single one of you has been amazing and I hope to repay the favor someday. See the Twitter thing on the right of this post for @EroticAuthorRTG? These are the greatest folks on Twitter and I hope if you haven't that you'll follow them and the other authors who support them. Not just follow, but RT their posts and buy their books. Without them, Willy never would have done so well so quickly and I would still be a lost little writer girl trying to find her way on Twitter.

Thirdly, I want to thank everyone who has already bought and read the story. Every time I check my Amazon dashboard, I'm floored. I never would have dreamed it would do so well. My favorite line so far from a review comes from Sunny on Goodreads -

I'm thinking this was written by a group of friends who got high one night and started a conversation with "Hey, what if..." And I'm thinking I'd like to read more of their collaborations. ;)

That tickled me. I don't want to make light of the other reviews because I have loved them all, but I had to point out that one paragraph.

Now to Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer -

Blurb -

The North Pole isn't as it appears in fairy tales. It has the elves and Santa and his reindeer, but Santa and Mrs Claus aren't the jolly couple the world believes them to be. The elves, while short, aren't pointy-eared tiny men with squeaky voices. The reindeer are all shape-shifters who transform into gorgeous beings in human form. Feared by all, the reindeer keep to themselves and only associate with their own. Randy the Chief Reindeer is the most feared of all. The largest of the pack at six-five, Santa's Village breathes a sigh of relief when he takes off on his Harley to parts unknown during the off-season.

Elf Willy is all about kink and will do almost anyone and everyone The one he wants most is out of his league - Randy the Chief Reindeer. While drunk on Peppermint Whiskey, Willy is dared by the Master Elf to sneak onto Randy's property to take a compromising photo. Getting caught is a given, as the Chief Reindeer values his privacy above all else. Does Randy kick Willy's elfy self all the way to Tinsel Town? Or does he mete out a more appropriate punishment for the kinky elf?

You can find Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer on Amazon here. Download for free if you are enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program. I hope if you check it out, you'll let me know what you think.

Again, thank you to everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Real Life, Updates, Upcoming Christmas Short

I've been slow to update my blog in the past, but I've really been bad lately. There are reasons that don't just have to do with writing. I'm not one to discuss personal stuff here, and I won't be going into detail, but suffice it to say that things have been a bit crazy these past few weeks.

I am heavily into editing Saving Travis and a new Christmas short, Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer. Travis will be published (hopefully) mid to late December. Willy should be out in a few days. Saving Travis needed quite a bit of revising, so my apologies to all who have asked when it will be released. As far as Willy is concerned, this story was written in June or July for a submission call for a publisher. The special call looked interesting so I figured, what the hell? I can totally write a story for that. I wrote it and submitted it long before the deadline. 15 weeks, and a lot of run around later, I finally sent a quick message to the publisher advising them to remove the story from consideration. I've dealt with publishers away from my writing and 99.9% of them are extremely professional. This one? Not even close. I should have known not to submit to them. They aren't exactly known for professionalism, but I did it anyway. One message - from the head editor I might add - had a misspelled word in it. I should have pulled the story right then and there, but I waited. After one message after another was ignored, I finally sent the email advising them to remove it from consideration. I've still yet to hear back. I think it's safe to say that another of my stories will never be submitted for consideration to these people. I wasted several weeks waiting to hear back one way or another when I could have tweaked it and published it myself.

A yes or no would have worked for me. This is not me being a bitch because a story was rejected. I had another (to be revised and self-pubbed at a later date) story rejected by a different publisher who showed the utmost of professionalism and showed me in detail what needed to be changed for me to better the story. In regards to Willy, I was in limbo because I literally heard nothing from these people other than one (badly written) response back saying they were going over stories and I would hear back from them soon. That was around 2 months ago. Since then? No yes. No "We're sorry, but your story sucks". No anything. I'm not naming names - that's not me at all - but the way they handled my story was extremely unprofessional. I was on hold all that time when I should have pulled it months before. Live and learn.

So, here I am 16 weeks later and I'm trying to get the story ready to be published. My goal was this weekend. That won't be happening because I had a family emergency that pulled me away from everything over the past 7 or 8 days. My son got extremely ill and was hospitalized. There were a few touch and go moments, but he's recovering now. Throw in Thanksgiving and selfish family members who cared more about me hosting the event at my house than my son, and well, you see it's been a rough week or so for me. I'm all good now, for the most part, so hopefully I can get back to normal in my real world and my writing one.

I will be working on the final touches of Willy's story today and Sunday (Saturday will be ALL about college football) and am aiming for Monday or Tuesday for it to be published. It's a kinky little gay short. I hope you all enjoy it. I had a blast writing it. I'll have another blog post about it soon.

Another quick note... to all my followers on social media - you guys rock. I've been forced (see above) to disappear for awhile, but everyone has stuck by me and I've even gotten some nice messages asking if I'm okay. I have no words for how much I appreciate all of you. I never could have imagined how amazing the indie community would be on Twitter. I'm in awe and amazed daily. So again, thank you.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoyed yours with your family. If you were brave enough to fight Black Friday sales? I hope you got what you wanted without injury and too much frustration. I was cuddled up with my man enjoying a much needed break from the real world for awhile.

I'll be updating with another post soon in regards to Willy the Kinky Elf & His Bad-Ass Reindeer. I want to give those kinky guys their own blog post without them getting lost in the other stuff. I think they deserve it. I hope you guys do as well.

Along with the Christmas eye candy, I added Willy's cover. What do you think?
